Increase in Skilled Migration numbers expected
Australian unemployment rate has fallen to 5.1% this is 11 falls in the last 12 months. It is widely considered that a rate of 5% is full employment. Expectations by economists are that the rate will fall to below 5% in the coming months.
We at BzMark are firmly of the opinion that this strong employment result will translate in increased numbers of skilled migrants in the coming months. With the election behind us, the migration programs will be closely looked and will be geared to the current economic climate.
In the recent Federal May budget the government released the following table depicting the past and future migration intake. From this we can clearly see the strong trend increase for employer sponsored skilled migration. We must remember that at the time of the budget, these figures were released against a background of higher expected un-employment figures. It is therefore plausible that this program will be changed allowing a higher intake, as the employment figures further improve.
